Adults sometimes forget these things. They got busy. They "fit in" too much. They outsourced their treasure.
You can help them remember.
How to Teach an Adult (Step by Step)
Find an adult you trust
(Parent, grandparent, teacher)
Ask them this question:
"What is YOUR favourite thing about yourself? Not what others like - what do YOU like?"
Wait. Listen.
(Adults sometimes need time to remember.)
If they struggle, say this:
"It's okay. I know mine. And you're allowed to know yours too."
Share something you learned:
"I learned that we don't have to give away our treasure chest. Our thoughts and feelings are OURS."
What Will Happen
Some adults will smile and thank you.
Some adults will get quiet and think.
Some adults might even cry a little (happy tears - they remembered something important).
All of these are good. You just helped an adult find their roots again.
The Magic Secret
Here is the biggest secret of all:
When you teach something, you learn it better.
By teaching an adult about not outsourcing yourself, YOU become even stronger at not outsourcing yourself.
Teaching is learning. Learning is growing. Growing is being YOU.

Keep your treasure chest. Guard your garden. Stand on your ground. Be your shape.

Not by telling them what to think. But by reminding them they are ALLOWED to think for themselves.
That's not outsourcing. That's SHARING.
And sharing your light doesn't make it smaller. It makes more light.
