Jung's taxonomy: Understanding whether corruption is genetic, learned, or deliberately chosen
When institutional corruption involves 70+ coordinated officials, we must ask: Are they "nutters" (cannot help their behavior) or are they acting (know it's wrong, do it anyway)?
Genetic Psychopathy
• No empathy from birth (brain structure difference)
• Extreme violence markers (attempted murder, torture)
• Cannot be reformed (neurological limitation)
• Statistically rare (1-4% of population)
Jung's Note:
These individuals are genuinely "other" - they don't process morality like neurotypical humans.
Childhood-Learned Patterns
• Replicate abuse patterns from parents/caregivers
• Learned: "This is how you treat vulnerable people"
• May have capacity to change with awareness (not neurological)
• Often unaware they're replicating trauma
Jung's Note:
These are victims who became perpetrators - the cycle can be broken with consciousness.
System-Taught, Conscious Choice
• KNOW it's wrong (full consciousness)
• CHOOSE to do it anyway (deliberate decision)
• Coordinate with others (requires planning)
• Maintain social masks (appear normal to public)
The Evidence:
Critical Finding:
The 70% are NOT insane. They are COMPLICIT. They chose to serve the system rather than individuate (Jung's term for becoming authentic self).
Jung's insight: "When the individual does not become conscious of their inner contradictions, the world must perforce act out the conflict."
Set the tone for corruption. Model the inversion ("claim to help, actually harm").
Example: Head teacher who marries vulnerable person, runs school for vulnerable children → Models exploitation while claiming care
Implement the pacesetter's model. Coordinate protection of abusers. Attack whistleblowers.
Example: Officials who deflect from actual crimes by attacking the person documenting crimes
Replicate patterns without thinking. "Just following orders." Protect system because they benefit.
Example: 70+ officials who all abuse identically (learned behavior from top/middle)
Implication:
Remove pacesetter, system can reform. Leave pacesetter, corruption continues.
